MOVIVA®

Turn down the food noise

“Minimally invasive endoscopic techniques that target appetite regulation through precise ablation of the gastric fundus offer patients an effective pathway to weight loss without the risks associated with surgery. MOVIVA®’s innovative injection and ablation capabilities simplify the GMA procedure and could set a new standard in endoscopic bariatric care.”

“Combining GMA with ESG represents one of the most promising breakthroughs in non-surgical weight loss treatment. In our early clinical trials, this dual approach achieved total body weight loss of 23 to 24 percent - comparable to surgical sleeve gastrectomy, but without the need for surgery. Patients consistently report greater control over hunger, reduced cravings, and an improved relationship with food. These results are not just clinically significant - they are potentially life-changing.”

Publication
Gadi SR, et al. (2026) “Gastric fundal mucosal ablation followed by endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty in adults with obesity: a first-in-human two-phase pilot clinical trial.” Endoscopy, 2026.

Objective
Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) achieves moderate weight loss but is less effective than surgical vertical sleeve gastrectomy, partly due to preservation of the gastric fundus. Gastric fundal mucosal ablation (GFMA) has been shown to reduce ghrelin levels and appetite.
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of sequential GFMA followed by ESG in adults with obesity, with the hypothesis that the combined approach may improve weight loss outcomes.

Conclusion
Sequential GFMA followed by ESG is safe, feasible, and highly effective, resulting in substantial and clinically meaningful weight loss. The combined approach targets both hormonal (ghrelin) and mechanical/visceroceptive pathways of appetite regulation, potentially overcoming limitations of ESG alone. This strategy represents a promising advancement in endoscopic obesity treatment, though larger and long-term studies are required for validation

Boškoski Ivo et al. (2026). “Combined gastric mucosal ablation of the fundus using a new hybrid device with endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty for obesity.” Endoscopy 2026; 58: E141–E142

Objective
The case report describes a novel combined endoscopic approach for obesity treatment that integrates endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) with gastric mucosal ablation (GMA) of the fundus, aiming to enhance weight loss through both mechanical restriction and hormonal modulation.

Conclusion
The combined ESG + GMA approach demonstrates feasibility and safety and shows promising short-term weight loss outcomes. However, larger studies are required to confirm its long-term efficacy and safety.

Objective
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of combining Gastric Fundus Mucosal Ablation (GFMA) with Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) as a non-surgical outpatient procedure for weight loss in adults with obesity.

Conclusion
The integration of GFMA with ESG offers a promising, minimally invasive alternative to surgical weight loss procedures, delivering comparable efficacy with a favorable safety profile.
